Where Is Southern Highlands Located?
Southern Highlands is in the southern foothills of the Las Vegas Valley, across the Las Vegas Freeway from the famous M Resort Spa Casino.
Although there are other communities that range further south, such as Inspirada in southwest Henderson, Southern Highlands is among the southernmost MPCs in the Las Vegas area.
Despite this, Southern Highlands’ close proximity to I-15 means that residents have a straight shot to the Las Vegas Strip, which is about 13 miles to the north.
Moreover, Southern Highlands’ location makes it easily accessible via W Starr Ave, W Cactus Ave, and Southern Highlands Parkway….And if you want to drive to Henderson, you can reach it by crossing I-15 to St. Rose Parkway.

Parks In Southern Highlands
There are 7 family parks and 2 dog parks in Southern Highlands. Here’s a brief overview of each of them.
Goett Family Park
Goett Family Park is a huge family park with a wide open grassy field for sports, social gatherings, picnics, and more. This park has probably the best field of any park in the community.
In addition to the abundant green space, there are convenient covered pavilions and beautiful walking paths for residents to use.
Olympia Sports Park
With its plethora of offerings, Olympia Sports Park offers a lot for residents to enjoy.
The facilities feature lighted fields, a basketball court, workout stations, multiple shaded picnic areas, playground structures, swings, water play features, and trails. The trails here lead to some great views of the Las Vegas Strip.
Jimmy Pettyjohn Jr. Park
This is a small 1.09-acre park with a gazebo, restroom facility, covered play structure, and beautiful garden sitting area.
Somerset Hills Park
At 6.33 acres, Somerset Hills Park is quite roomy. The park features tennis courts, a play park, gazebos with BBQs, and on-street parking.
Doctor Harry B. Johnson Rose Garden (Rose Park)
This park is absolutely gorgeous and features a splash pad, covered play structure, gazebo, restrooms, and rose garden. This is a smaller 1.97-acre park with a small parking lot (only 6 spaces).
Inzalaco Park
At 4.38 acres, Inzalaco Park accommodates a sizable playground for children and a broad walking path. The parking lot is fairly large and can hold 30 vehicles. The park has restrooms onsite.
Stonewater Park
Stonewater Park is something special. Here you’ll find 7 acres of gorgeous grassy area, trees, walking paths, and expansive views of the surrounding Las Vegas landscape.
Southern Highlands Dog Park
This is a nice dog park with two separate fields so that small dogs can have their own space.
Please note that the park is best used during the day, as there are no lights installed. Additionally, there is no parking, so the park has to be accessed on foot or by bike.
For this reason, the park is primarily used by people who live in the neighborhood.
Fire Station Dog Park
This small 0.36-acre dog park has a large grassy area with a gate, a water fountain, pooper scoopers, a pet waste station, and places to sit. This is a great spot to bring your furry friends.
Southern Highlands Walking and Biking Paths
Southern Highlands is graced with well-lit walking paths that meander through picturesque scenery. And while strolling, one can enjoy stunning vistas that span across the entire valley.
The Paseo Walking Path, for instance, invites residents to go on leisurely walks while smoothly connecting different areas within the community.
Southern Highlands Golf Club
The Southern Highlands Golf Club, an exclusive members-only establishment, ranks among the top affluent golf communities in the United States.
The course, crafted by the masterful hands of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and his son Robert Trent Jones Jr., is one of only four collaboratively designed by the renowned duo.
Their design legacy lives on in the course’s seamless blend of lush greenery, diverse terrain, and water features, which combine to create an amazing golfing experience.
Southern Highlands Clubhouse

Movies In The Park
Movies in the Park takes place once or twice a year in Southern Highlands, typically at Goett Family Park during the summer.
The event starts at 8PM (subject to change) and is a lot of fun for parents and their kids.
Community residents are invited to come and bring blankets, lawn chairs, and family-friendly drinks.

Memorial Day Celebration
Every Memorial Day, Southern Highlands holds a family-friendly event with games, food trucks, water slides, fireworks, live music, and more.

Fall Festival
Fall Festival takes place on or around October 21 every year at Goett Family Park.
The festival features the following:
Food and drink, a bounce house, circus acts, dance performances, raffles, field games, vendor booth trick or treating, a costume contest, and fundraising for local charities.
